I joined Hippo as a Full Stack Consultant to work on larger, more complex client engagements, bringing together my background in large-scale consultancy from Accenture with the product-focused, startup experience I gained at FlatPlan.
Seeking Scale and Complexity
The move to Hippo was driven by a desire to operate in environments that combined technical depth, scale, and delivery maturity. Hippo’s consultancy model offered the opportunity to work on complex systems while maintaining a strong focus on engineering quality and modern development practices.
This role allows me to apply proven patterns from enterprise delivery while retaining the pragmatism and ownership mindset developed in smaller teams.
Media Platform Development
I worked with a leading media agency on the development of an internal streaming tool, contributing across the full stack. My work spanned:
- Front-end development, building user-facing features and interfaces
- Back-end services, supporting content and data workflows
- Cloud infrastructure, helping ensure the platform was scalable, reliable, and fit for purpose
Operating within a multidisciplinary team, I collaborated closely with designers, product, and client stakeholders to deliver functionality aligned with real operational needs.
Reflection
My time at Hippo, though short, has reinforced my interest in technically challenging, large-scale systems and consultancy environments that value engineering excellence. It provides an opportunity to consolidate experience from both enterprise and startup contexts while working on a high-impact media platform.
